On June 6 the Wake County Commissioners will review and approve the budget for the 22/23 fiscal year. This meeting will come one week before a work session during which the County Manager will bring back a menu of options available to the Wake County Commissioners to address the issue of unaffordable property taxes. These options will be refined versions of what was originally presented to the Commissioners on February 28.
ONE Wake plans to hold a summit with Commissioners, County staff, homeowners and their supporters in advance to ensure that the options presented on June 13 speak to the self interest of low income homeowners who are affected by this issue.
Please save the date for June 6. This will be our opportunity to make public the results of this summit and to ensure that the Commissioners are clear on what options are most in line with homeowners interest. It is also an opportunity for ONE Wake leaders to reflect on the Commissioners 22/23 budget and lift up how we expect the Commissioners to prioritize funds for long time, low income homeowners in the future.
More details will follow as the date draws closer. Please save the date in the meantime!
