BE A LEADER AT IAF UNIVERSITY
Join other ONE WAKE leaders and learn how to make change in your community

***

What does it mean for you to be a leader? IAF UNIVERSITY is a way for you to act on your values with allies from ONE Wake’s 43 member institutions across Wake County. It is a three month commitment of 2 hours a month that includes training and doing.

At the monthly trainings there will be concrete next steps to build people power and to take action (virtually) with others-- on existing ONE Wake issue campaigns. All this will prepare us collectively for larger-scale work to effect change within multiple towns and cities across the county during the upcoming fall municipal elections.

WHAT WILL LEADERS DO?

  • Be a part of a cohort of 200+ leaders from ONE Wake member institutions;

  • Attend three 90 minute training sessions between March and May to prepare you for specific action: one session a month (there will be two dates/times each month to choose from);

  • Spend at least one hour a month acting locally on what you are learning;

  • Join and/or sign up others to attend the ONE Wake Annual Meeting in June that will launch our relational voter turnout campaign in preparation for the fall municipal elections.

 WHAT WILL LEADERS LEARN?

  • How to move beyond protest and petitions to organize people to bring about long-term systemic change;
  • How to implement the nuts and bolts of organizing: relational meetings, power analysis, how to build a core team in your institution, how to run a research action, and how to get the reactions you want in meetings with elected leaders;
  • How to take what you are hearing in the community and flex your organizing muscle to create change locally;
