Join us Saturday at 4:00 pm to support leaders from Las Americas R2W, a ONE Wake member institution. Las Americas leaders are organizing a press conference to call for a meeting with the owner of their nearly 300 unit mobile home park in Cary. 

The press conference has been organized to address an urgent issue: a new contract which residents have been asked to sign by the end of the month. Residents have met with lawyers from the NC Justice Center who have expressed concern that many conditions included in the contract are unfair and unjust.

The primary issues that we will address Saturday:

- Many Las Americas residents who have completed rent to own payments on their homes have still not received titles from the owner;

- A proposed rent increase during a time of record COVID-19 infections and job losses; 

- New, unfair fees and fines included in the new contract.   

The Las Americas mobile home park is one of the largest affordable housing options left in the Town of Cary. During our founding assembly ONE Wake publicly pledged to support this resident-led organizing effort to address substandard conditions and unfair treatment.
