Description
Join us at the Raleigh City Council evening session to urge the Council to invest in the Homeowner Care Fund and prevent the displacement of low income homeowners.
During the action, a small number of Raleigh residents who are directly impacted by unaffordable property taxes and their supporters will make public comment which should start not long after 7:00 pm.
The context for this action is that ONE Wake is on track to secure a $5 million investment from the Wake County Commissioners to help long time, low income homeowners to stay in their homes. ONE Wake leaders have confirmed that the County is moving forward with a pilot “Homeowner Care Fund” to address rising housing costs that threaten to displace low income homeowners. This plan is consistent with the commitments that the County has previously made to ONE Wake.
In October, nearly every member of the Raleigh City Council publicly pledged in front of ONE Wake's 477 person assembly to follow the County's lead and to make an equivalent investment. Now, ONE Wake is taking action to remind the Council of their commitments, and to encourage them to draw on a portion of the remaining federal ARPA funds to support an initial investment in the Homeowner Care Fund.
Instructions
Parking is available at the Municipal Complex Parking Deck, 201 W. Morgan Street. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers. A ONE Wake leader or organizer will be stationed outside the entrance to provide you with any materials and/or last minute instructions.
