The ONE Wake Mental Health Team last met on September 5 to clarify our focus based on a review of notes from the spring listening campaign, and follow-up listening in our communities. 

Thanks to this work, we were able to summarize our self interest on this issue, which includes: 

1. A widespread feeling of being unprepared to assist members of our families, congregations, and communities who are experiencing a mental health crisis; 
2. Concerns about barriers to access existing mental health resources;
3. Concerns about a lack of mental health resources.

In the time since our last meeting, Mental Health Team members have held several meetings with subject matter experts and practitioners to hear their reaction to the above and to learn their perspective on the local mental health arena. 

The Team has a deadline of December 1 to prepare an initial issue proposal for review by the ONE Wake Strategy Team, which will later be ratified by the ONE Wake Countywide Leaders Caucus.

The purpose of this meeting is to hear reports from our meetings with subject matter experts, and to shape a draft issue proposal for review by the ONE Wake Strategy Team.
