128 Holly Springs Residents Turn Out for Affordable Housing

On Tuesday night Holly Springs residents organized through ONE Wake to deliver 128 emails to Town Council in favor of rezoning 20 acres of county owned land for affordable housing. Frances Perkins from ONE Wake member institution Bazzel Creek Missionary Baptist Church showed up in person to call on the Town of Holly Springs to be "at the forefront of affordable housing development in Wake County."

ONE Wake has publicly pledged to support the development of affordable housing on this site, along with 10 other county owned parcels across Wake County. If rezoning is approved the project will consist of 124 units all below 60% AMI, with 26 units at 50% AMI or less and 8 units at 40% AMI or less. See the site plan for the development here

Thanks to our efforts, support for the project was overwhelming: 95% of all comments received were in favor of rezoning! The rezoning hearing will continue as planned to a second public hearing on April 6.

Over 100 Attend First Session of IAF University

108 members of ONE Wake institutions from across Wake County attended IAF University Session 1 on Tuesday evening. 106 members are registered for an identical session on Monday night.

IAF University will help ONE Wake institutions develop Core Teams of leaders capable of moving their entire congregation to advance our grassroots agenda, take action on local issues, and ultimately have an impact on the upcoming municipal elections. Our goal is to develop a cohort of 200+ leaders.

Education Team Listening Session Nearing Deadline

ONE Wake leaders have engaged hundreds of members in a listening campaign designed to help us understand how education has been impacted by COVID, and to surface the top pressures facing parents, teachers, students, and staff. More information about this campaign is available on our website here.

Notes from the campaign are due by March 31. The Education Team will meet on April 27 at 7:00 pm to review the results and to identify 1-2 priorities for action. A report and analysis from the listening campaign will be sent to the team two weeks in advance. You can register for the Education Team meeting here.
