Purpose of Meeting
- to plan the non-partisan assembly with candidates for the Zebulon Board of Commissioners;
- review of registration to date, and to make a final turnout strategy.
Context for Meeting
At last Transportation Team meeting on August 29, we heard reports from our efforts to speak with business owners, community leaders, clergy, and colleagues to learn how they are impacted by the lack of public transportation in Zebulon and Eastern Wake County. We also learned that due to the indefinite postponement of the Commuter Rail Plan, there could be sufficient funds to fully pay for a circulator bus in Zebulon, which would prevent burdening the Town with the ongoing expense of operating the new bus line.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Team agreed to move forward with a proposal to meet with candidates for the Zebulon Board of Town Commissioners on Tuesday, October 17, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Our pledge was to deliver at least 50 Zebulon residents, with an additional 25 members from ONE Wake institutions outside of Zebulon to show countywide support.
This proposal was then ratified at ONE Wake's August 31 Internal Assembly, with a turnout pledge of 40 non-Zebulon residents - exceeding our request!
